Introduction:
HANDS was founded by Prof.A.G.Billoo (Sitara-e-Imtiaz) in 1979.HANDS has evolved in 34 years as one of the largest Non-Profit Organization of the country with integrated development model. HANDS has a network of 30 offices across the country and has access to more than 16.2 million population nearly 20,274 villages/ settlement in 34 districts of Pakistan. HANDS strength is 18 volunteers Board Members, more than 1502 full time staff and nearly one million community based volunteers of 5205 medium and small size organizations. HANDS Pakistan is registered under Societies Act, is certified by Pakistan Center of Philanthropy (PCP) and Tax exempted by Income Tax Department Government of Pakistan. HANDS has qualified the Institutional Management Program (IMCP) of USAID of management standards. HANDS is accredited with European Union. HANDS also possess membership with Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP). HANDS International recently established its office in London, United Kingdom. HANDS international –UK is registered as Non-Profit Organization in Companies Act 2006 of England and Wales.
HANDS Disaster Management Program:
HANDS Disaster Management Program aims to reduce, or avoid the potential losses from the hazards, assure propmt and appropriate assistance to victims of disaster, and achieve rapid and affactive recovery. Appropriate actions at all points lead the greater prepardness, better warnings, reduced valunaribility or the prevention of disasters. HANDS has established two Disaster Risk Management Centers in Sindh Province i.e. for northern Sindh in Sukkur and for Southern Sindh at Thatta to ensure and accelerate its integrated operations and relief and rehabilitative activities whereas 08 more Disaster Risk Management Centers are under construction process in Districts Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Hyderabad, Umerkot Sanghar ,Matiari and Badin. HANDS has its base office with well-equipped warehouse in Karachi. HANDS Disaster Management Program responded to major disasters in Pakistan – the Badin Cyclone, the Kashmir Earthquake 2005, the flood emergencies of 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 in Sindh and Earthquake in Balochistan and now in drought Emergency at Tharparkar. HANDS Pakistan with integrated approach worked tirelessly with communities to minimize losses, end displacement, and rebuild villages & livelihoods. HANDS Emergency Response in Tharparkar Drought:
HANDS Pakistan is continuously working in Response to Drought affected district at Tharparkar for relief and to improve situations of the deprived district. Although HANDS is mobilization resources for the much possible support of the people but at the time HANDS is active through conduction of Mobile Medical Camps with support of District Government Health department and also providing CMAM services with support from UNICEF in two Talukas Mithi (including Islamkot) and Diplo of District Tharparkar.

Mobile Medical Camps update till 1st April 2014
CMAM Project 20 Community Bases Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) teams with essential medicines are visiting the villages and screening children of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) and complicated malnutrition cases & Pregnant and Lactating women (PLWs) at the door step of communities. The Sevier Complicated Malnourished (SC) Children/ patients are referred to District Head Quarter Hospital to admit in stabilization centre. The HANDS CMAM teams are mobilizing parents to admit referral site as well as providing transport and food support to parents during their stay with patient in stabilization centre. HANDS CMAM team also providing supplements and de-worming to malnourished children and PLW’s.
