HANDS with the collaboration of Aurat Foundation/USAID have established Shelter/ half way house. Objective of this project is to “Provide Safe Haven to GBV Survivors through institutionalizing Half Way House. HANDS intends to fully capacitate the shelter to cater for the longer term needs of GBV survivors through a holistic rehabilitation mechanism in order to fully empower the women and equip them with required skills for successful re-integration in society. HANDS propose a two pronged approach; firstly, it will provide support to GBV survivors through its shelter situated in the suburbs of Karachi, Malir district. This shelter is HANDS’s voluntary contribution. The second shelter focuses on providing support to those survivors who have taken certain trainings, have had rehabilitation sessions in the shelter and will have a place where they can begin working without having to worry about renting a home for them. The Half-Way House is a concrete step towards survivors’ reintegration in the society.
