HANDS has vast experience in implementing integrated community development projects and has developed many model villages. Now HANDS with the collaboration of philanthropist funding is running the MISALI project in 81 villages of 13 districts in Pakistan. The target is to achieve 20,000 model communities both in urban and rural settlements. The goal of MISALI Model villages is to relieve them from poverty, illiteracy and illnesses.
Livelihood program of HANDS works on both on farm and off farm and work on strategy to ensure self-employment. On farm livelihood component promotes natural resource management, work for food security and income generation for the underprivileged communities. On farm activities enhance the livelihood of people through agricultural interventions, provision of livestock, poultry & fish farming, transfer of assets, promotion of horticulture and social forestry. The program also provides capacity building trainings to the beneficiaries. The funds can be utilized to support the area to make beneficiary self-employee. It is best way of poverty Alleviation.
During this quarter 5431 vulnerable right holders received livelihood support from this project, including 936 beneficiaries received need based enterprise and transfer assets such as (Shops, Donkey Carts, Agri-inputs, poultry birds, livestock, stitching machines , needle work, chingchi rekshows and etc ), similarly 3950 beneficiaries received support in fruit, fodder and trees plants although 545 beneficiaries received kitchen gardening seeds .
