Interactive theater performance was demonstrated for sensitization of local community on early marriage issue in a village of Mattiari.
HANDS Interactive Theater illustrated the problem in a wide range occur to adolescent underage girls after marriages. Villagers were encouraged to realized the fact that how a child marriage affects the rights of a child by losing health, education, social status and real charm of adolescent age.
This Interactive theater performance was demonstrated under Adolescent Girls Empowerment Project for sensitization of local community on early marriage issue in a village of Mattiari. Bilquis Rehman GM HANDS and Azra Shakeel Manger HANDS monitored and observed the whole activity Chain of these interactive theaters is the part of the campaign of early age marriages bill to present by legislatures in the parliament. Adolescent Girls Empowerment project Proclaim that the legal marriage age of a girl should be 18 years and every girl should be provided well maintained health, education and domestic skills before her marriage.
According to the National Nutrition Survey (NNS)-2011, Sindh declared as the poorest and most food deprived province of the country with only 28.2 per cent households having food security, while the remaining (about 72 per cent) were found to be food insecured. Culture of premature age marriages of girls in sindh crafting the situation worse day by day and causing a underdeveloped and malnourished breed which may adversely effect our country in development.
