HANDS believes in providing women a self-reliant life through roof over their heads, suitable vocations, formation of women CBOs in almost 20 districts of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan and an overall dignified life for them. On International Women Day, 8th March, 2014, HANDS best practice models for women empowerment were projected at a number of forums.

 Dr. Shaikh Tanveer, Chief Executive, HANDS, was invited as Guest of Honour at a joint venture celebration of all NGOs at Arts Council, along with Ms. Anees Haroon, Former Chairperson National Commission on the Status of Women and Ms. Majida rizvi, first woman High Court judge in Pakistan. HANDS Marvi Health Worker presented her case study as a socially aware woman who can utilize the provided resources and lead a sustainable life.

 HANDS Karachi Urban in collaboration with Aman Foundation organized an event “Peaceful women for a healthy nation” under MHD project. Dr. Seema Zia, MPA Sindh Assembly, Pakistan Tahreek Insaaf, Ms. Siraj Nissa Essani, Board Member HANDS, and Dr. Sadia Rizvi, Director, Mental Health Initiative Aman Foundation, were among the chief guests.

 Women speakers from fields of education, governance, sports and social work, shared their views and projected women empowerment and recognition at the forum.

HANDS MHD intervention, project achievements, documentary of women’s struggle for development, role plays by City school students and empowerment case study by MARVI worker highlighted the seminar proceedings. More than 210 participants and 15 guests participated in this seminar.
